Vote Sara Townsend Flick for Treasurer

My name is Sara and I’m running for Township Treasurer. Growing up, and most of my adult life, I have called Alpena Township home. From playing and coaching sports and volunteering at various organizations, I have always believed in being involved in the community. 

The position of Treasurer acts as accounts receivable for the township. I have experience with this, along with mass mailings, managing and recording payments, and reporting revenues and expenditures. When I served as President of Student Senate and Alpena Community College, I gained experience communicating with my peers and representing them while reporting to the board of trustees. All of these experiences make me confident I can fulfill the requirements of the job.

A lot has happened in the township the past few years, so when I saw an opportunity to run for treasurer, I decided to enter the race to do my part and give back to my community. I am excited about a new career opportunity and want to be a part of the solution.

I have been asked the most important issue facing our township and my answer is growth. Examples include areas of tourism and the addition of businesses, as well as planned expansion of infrastructure such as water, sewer, roads, and broadband internet. This type of anticipated growth will also include the expansion of needed supports, such as emergency services and zoning administration. With many of these examples, there will be additional job opportunities that will also help pour back into our local economy. 

 
Another concern expressed by residents is the perceived lack of transparency that has come from the township as a whole. I want to work to change this. I believe in open and transparent financial reporting, ensuring accountability and building trust with the community.
